Expert wedge question

I am in the process of upgrading my entire bag. I would like to go with only 2 wedges instead of 3. What would be the best combination to go with? I was thinking 52 & 56, 54 & 58, 52 & 60, 54 & 60. My pitching wedge is 47 degrees. Who out there plays a 2 wedge system and what are the best results.

Thanks

Ken

Re: Expert wedge question

hi
are you dropping your pitching wedge 47% ???? if not and you add a 52 and a 56 then you will have 3 wedges?????
are you having say the 56% as a sand wedge or a 56% wedge and the 52% as a sand wedge.
my set up is a 47% p/wedge and a 52% sand wedge and a 56% wedge.
i find that that give me a good spread of distance from 100 yards in.
if i was to drop my p/wedge i have a gap of 30 yards between my 9 iron and my s/wedge.
i find that three wedges cover everything i need and adding a 2 iron or a hybrid would not make up for the loss of a wedge.
cheers
bill

Re: Expert wedge question

Sorry about the confusion. No I am not dropping my pitching wedge. Alot of people add a gap, sand , and lob wedge to their bags. I really just want to go with 2 wedges. Just looking for opinions on what two would be most versatile. I was leaning toward the 52 and 56 myself. But was also thinking the 54 and 58 might be the way to go. However, that might leave too much gap between my PW 47 and the 54.

Thanks

Re: Expert wedge question

hi again
i found using my p/wedge 47% and s/wedge 52% and a 56% worked out really well you can always open up the face of the 56& wedge and make it like a 58% wedge when you want that high soft landing shot.
i found that going to the 60% wedge was no good for me as i could not hit it well at full swing. i was OK swing it at 3/4 and 1/2 but full swing sometimes it flew up in the air it came down only 20 yards in front of me and other time it went 40 yards. so i dropped it out my bag and open up the 56% wedge when i need a high shot over a bunker.
cheers
bill
