have i chosen the wrong driver? Hi Ive just bought a new Srixon 350cc driver (11 deg). I slice the ball and hit it high but also dont hit it very far! I still slice the ball but seem to hit it higher and still dont hit it far. Should i have chosen a less lofted club? ie/ 9.5 deg? Ive also bought some taylor made rac irons which i think are great. I hit my short irons (6,7,8,9) straight but they still dont go as far as my opponents! How do i improve the power in my swing? Thanks.

Re: have i chosen the wrong driver? Nothings a substitute for good lessons from a proffessional instructor. I have the same problems as you - im a slicer with my woods and cant get desired distance from my irons. Unfortunately i cant take my own advice cos i just cant afford the lessons at the moment, but it they are on xmas list!

Re: have i chosen the wrong driver? I'll back that - I'm a big, strong guy who couldn't get his driver to go more than 220 yards, on a good drive, with a slice. After a couple lessons with a C.P.G.A. pro, my good drives were slightly drawn, and 270 yards (carry+roll). It just goes to show that technique followed by increased flexibility are more important than strength. If your swing can find the sweet spot every time, you can get the ball going as far as a fast swinging ox who mis-hits.
