Taylormade R360 Ti

I have seen this new on the web for £79.99 GBP. Surely a bargain.
It is 8.5 degree (I currently have a 10 degree ERC) but was thinking of trying a less lofted driver anyway and the shaft is stiff. I am not sure if stiff is suitable for me, but at this price it must be worth a look right??
Anyone got any feedback on this driver or opinion on shaft type/loft/price etc.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

If the R360 is a XD or a .860 COR it is a good deal. If it is just a R360, you should be able to get them much cheaper. Also, you probably won't find much of a difference in performance, probably a decline if anything.

If you have a high ball flight with the 10* ERC then you should have good success with the 8.5* R360. The flight won't be quite as high, but should get the ball high enough in the air to carry a long way. If your ball flight is more of a line drive, stay away from th elower trajectory clubs. You may want to consider a higher lofted club.

As for shaft flex, it all depends on what works for you.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

I was told that it might not be the loft of the driver that is causing such a high trajectory - I play mostly on a links course where it is almost always windy so it is a problem - it could be the shaft.
Does that mean that I may be swinging faster with my new swing and that I now need a stiffer shaft to keep this under control?

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

You could definitely get your current driver reshafted with a shaft that has a different kick point than your current shaft to lower your trajectory.

Where I play it is always windy during the late part of the season so at this time of the year I dump my 3 wood and put a 6* driver in my bag. That leaves me with my 10* driver for when the wind is behind me so I can get the ball up high and let the wind take it and a 6* driver to hit into the wind so I can keep the ball flight low.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

The loft on the driver very rarely makes a difference. It's usually the shaft that determines the Launch angle of a driver. And I would say that you should stick with the ERC II, Rik, it's a truly great golf club. For most players 9° or 10° is ideal if you want a lower launch angle, experiment with shafts rather than lofts. I have a 9.5° Titleist 975 L-FE with a Grafalloy 4656 Stiff shaft and I cant keep it from ballooning the ball into the air. On the other hand my Mizuno MP-001 with a 9° loft and a Grafalloy Prolite 35 S keeps the ball nice and low. It's maybe worth having a try of another ERC II with a stiffer tipped shaft (I don't know what one is on it I assume with it being a 10° its a System 50 Firm) if you like the change get a new shaft put on your own ERC II, your local pro should be able to do this for maybe 50 pounds depending on the make and model of shaft.

I will also shamelessly plug two things here as well. the Mizuno MP-001 driver, its really special and its legal! If you are interested in that www.golfbidder.co.uk has them for around 110 pounds.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

Speaking of shameless plugs, I have a few drivers on the Classifieds section that are fairly inexpensive with a range of lofts available. The drivers belong to my buddies who have all since upgraded trying to catch up to my Hawkeye. They haven't grasped the concept that you should fix your swing, not replace your clubs.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

I can manage more shameless than that Gord. I have a titleist 975 L-FE 9.5° Driver with a grafalloy 4656 Stiff Shaft. Yours for 75 pounds.......its in really good condition as well.

Seriously, though, I think the opportunity now to have the driver analysed as you hit it is a real benefit. I am always surprised at the difference in ball behaviour from two shafts that feel very similar. I dont think I will buy another driver without the information you get from one of those systems.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

I agree Mizunoman, I recently bought new irons MP30 and didn't know at the time about booking a 'session' at the Cumbernauld plant.
If I ever think about changing my woods and am not just looking for 'a bargain', I will probably go there to be analysed and fitted properly for the MP001 series. I will probably take my irons with me to be checked out too.

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

mmmmmm MP30's, nice..........

Yea I think the options on the MP001 are the Prolite 35S (which I have) the Aldila NV (funky green colour) Mizuno's own Exsar range and the now ubiquitous ProLaunch Blue (is it just my imagination or is that a pretty average shaft).

What set up have you got on your 30's? I have the S400 shafts 1/2" longer than standard with a 1° upright hosel angle. I'm real pleased I had it done.

Well if price is no object just bite the bullet and get the R7Quad can't get better than an adjustable cannon......I tried one....really special but regrettably I had neither the funds nor the credit to purchase one myself...maybe one day...

Re: Taylormade R360 Ti

I will have to check the shaft but they are regular. The length and lie are regular too. Basically, although I went to a pro for a fitting.....and I knew him so it was a 'favour', he told me to stand a bit more upright rather than agreeing that I needed a degree or so flat!
One day I will get a second opinion in Cumbernauld.
They look gorgeous though....so who cares!!
