Unoriginal - but new irons Hi I'm an 18 hcap player who is looking to invest in some proper irons after I seem to have outgrown my Pine Ridge starter set. I recently got the TaylorMade Rescuse Mid 5 iron equivalent and the Nike NDS driver, both are going well and cutting major shots off. I was thinking of something along the lines of TaylorMade RAC second hand and wondered what suggestions you guys had. Thanks, Phil

Re: Unoriginal - but new irons I have a pretty fast swing, just over 100mph with a driver, but I would definately want cavity backs, and I tend to hook it to the left off the tee if anything, however, the past couple of weeks (with warmer weather) I have been much more consistent with a couple of lowest every scores. PS I've only been playing a year.

Re: Unoriginal - but new irons The question you have to ask yourself (and I asked myself the same question) is how is your ball striking? Are you hitting your irons cleanly and crisply every time? Do your shots go where you want most of the time? Do you usually find the sweet spot on a club? If so, the field is yours to play - find something you like to swing and go with that. If not, stay with your cavity backs (which will forgive you for missing the sweet spot and keep your shots straighter). The main thing is to swing sticks that you like to swing, and like the look of. If you can't stand the look of your irons, you'll lose confidence every time you see them next to your ball (no kidding). Hope it helps!

Re: Unoriginal - but new irons Wherever you get the set from, i would check ebay first, you can get awesome sets for cheap cheap, I got a brand new set of NIke Slingshots from a good golf shop on ebay. Already made to the specs I needed, .5 long and 2 upright for 400 bucks. I would definetly check ebay first to save some dough.

Re: Unoriginal - but new irons Slingshots!!!!!! Arrrgghhhhh the horror!!!!! Hype Alert, Hype Alert!!!!!! Taylor Made really are everyman clubs, top quality with a great range for all players. If you are playing off 18 you would be best with either the RAC OS or the HT. They are about the same price. Failing that Titleist 822OS are pretty much the same deal as are the Mizuno MX-15 and Cleveland TA-6. Good luck, D.
