| Shaft and head choice! Hey everyone, would like your opinions please. I am choosing between 2 drivers and 2 shafts both shafts are available for both drivers. The drivers are cleveland launcher 460 and callaway 454, shafts are aldila nv 65 or 75 stiff, or graffaloy (spelling?) blue stiff. My driver speed is between 105 and 125 mph consistantly and I am a low handicapper. I have no trouble controlling the driver but would like a lower penetrating ball flight without giving up distance. Let me know what you guys think I should do. PS I hit every driver out there before you ask and these are the 2 I like best I always hit callaway woods well, way back with the warbird and up, and the launcher feels like cheating its so pure. Peace DBD... ![]()

| Re: Shaft and head choice! DD, If you are looking for a penetrating ball flight, you're better off with the Callaway. I use Cleveland equipment and I have a 460 in my bag and it has a particularly high ball flight. I also custom fit golf equipment and even with a high flex point shaft, the Cleveland still has a launch angle becuase it was designed that way. If you do settle withe the Launcher start with an 8.5* first and then the 10.5*. The 460 is a great driver, easily the best driver ever to come from CCG. I wouldn't change it easily. As for shafts, with your swing speed - I'd go for 75g stiff. For swing speeds approaching 120mph, any lighter shafts stanrt to produce very inconsistent results and too much torque. But, if you can go and get tested with a qualified clubfitter and get some scientific results on each.

| Re: Shaft and head choice! Oh man, felt bad for anyone next to me at the range today. Bomb after bomb this is easily the longest most forgiving driver I have ever hit, left to right, right to left it is very workable for such a huge head but it likes to go straight as well. If any of you get a chance demo this driver, you will not be dissapointed. Dave D... ![]() |
