| 10deg and 4W in bag. Add 7W? I have a 10 degree 454cc driver, which I hit 250-270, and a 4W that I hit around 225. My 3I goes about 190, which leaves me about a 35yd gap between clubs... and makes a 210yd par-3 a (more) difficult hole. I can drop my PW (my 51 deg wedge goes about 115 which duplicates the PW, so it never comes out of the bag). Should I expect greater-than-3I distance out of a 7W? I'm concerned that if I get a 5W, I'll have a club much closer to the 4W than right between the 4W and 7W. Should I drop my 4W and get a 3W & 5W? I like the 4W and I've never been able to hit a 3W real well (yes, I'm sure it's mental). Thoughts? |

"Try out" on a course generally means buy it and you if you're not happy, they'll think about giving you store credit for something else. This is a long way different, IMHO, from "try it out". In any case, I've purchased a 7W (Callaway Steelhead III, btw) and we'll see. |

| Re: 10deg and 4W in bag. Add 7W? Head to a club with a driving range - the shop may be more than happy to let you hit some clubs there. Where I'm at, there's a shop right on the golf course grounds, and you can hit a 'warmup' bucket to test a new club. Then, there's a trade-in centre in the same plaza as an indoor golf simulator, where they let you take a few clubs and hit them. |
