titelist pro v 1

I usually play wilson smartcore,I am 14/16 handicap will it be worth it to buy titelist pro v 1 or latest version.any advice please

I think you can get the Smartcores for about US$20 a doz, where the ProV1x is US$55....more then double. The question is: Is the ProV1x "twice" as good as the Smartcore? At your level (14 hdcp), I do not think so. Not because I don't think you could benifit from a softer ball spinning more and it will go close to the same distance. It is that your misses with this ball will be magnified. 10 yd slices will turn into 15. That is the difference of being on the green or in the bunker. That is the big difference. Better players (7 hdcp or less) will not have there slices (unless they play them on purpose) and will benifit from a faster spinning ball (more control). So I would keep your money for greens fees and play a more forgiving ball. But it wouldn't hurt to buy a sleve to play anyway and try the 2 ball comparison where play holes with 2 balls and compare them. If you hit is straight all day, then that won't be a good comparison, you want to mess up to see the difference.
