Numbers on balls What is the significance of the numbers on balls. I just bought a pack of 15 and the numbers on them range from 1 - 5. I assume it's to do with hardness and distance, but which are more suitable for a relative beginner?

Re: Numbers on balls Hi The numbers on the ball are not to do with them being different from each other. They are all the same ball. The number is to help the golfer identify his ball from the others he is playing with. I hope this helps. Rob

Re: Numbers on balls A number in the mid hundreds usually refer to the number of dimples on a ball (think pro v1 392). A number between 40 and 120 usually refers to the compression rating of the ball. The single digit numbers are strictly for identification.
