| 2006 Golf Balls http://golfdigest.com/equipment/inde...listballs.html I noticed that the last golf ball thread was a year old... Anyone found any of the new balls out there to be particularly great? I stocked up on Precept U-Tri Tours a little bit ago, when the price was slashed as they were discontinued. Personally, I was looking for good distance off the tee, high spin with the irons/wedges, and soft feel for putting. When I run out, I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone B330S if I feel rich, and the Bridgestone e5 or Nike Ignite if I feel poor. |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls And I was wondering on peoples views on refurbished balls. Now that you can get not just Titleist ProV1 but also ProV1x and Callaway HX Tour balls for the price of bargain basement distance balls, is it only snob value that would stop you playing them or do you think that the process of refurbishment somehow damages them. I love playing HX Tours but find that they cut up easily on wedge shots. After 9 holes or so they look more like "featheries" than the pinnacle of modern technology! How would you compare the B330S with ProV1 and Hx Tour balls mattinIL? That list makes interesting reading as someone gave me some Titleist NXT balls (winner of the value performance category in the above list) but I couldn't get on with them. I can't explain why but I just felt that the distance wasn't great, the greenside spin was low and mishits veered badly. In comparison I was surprise by how well Wilson Px3's performed.

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls if im not playing pro v1s then its nxt tours(better than nxt, gooood distance and decent spin) or pinnacle exception(holy **** distance doesnt have to be hard, its the truth, softest pinnacle ever) |

I tried playing Warbirds, HX Red, ProV1x, NXT, NXT Tour, and Precept U-Tri Tour for long enough to make a finding. I have hit HX Tour and ProV1 a few times, but not enough to really have a good opinion. I definitely found the Warbirds to go furthest, but it would run right off the green for me. The NXT's were better, but still didn't hold greens as well as the others. The HX Red held greens, but I didn't get as much distance off the tee. The ProV1x and U-Tri Tour were superior, for me, in all aspects. And because the Precept's were so much cheaper... I haven't hit the B330S's, but I am figuring I would like them based on my experience with the U-Tri Tour's (same company, meant to take the U-Tri Tour's market). I can also find them for a little cheaper than the ProV1's or HX Tour's. |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls After learning about the effects of water on a golf ball, I'm wary of refurbished balls. I'd rather buy cheap, new and lower grade than cheap used and higher grade. Now, if I'm in the woods, and I see a new ProV1, I'll take it. But I don't buy from a re-supplier for actual play (I will for practice balls to give me a general idea of how I'm hitting the ball). Plus, I bought 30 dozen MaxFli Rev Tours last year... so I've got about 28 dozen to play this year.

I think overall the best buy is the Nike Power Distance Super Soft. It's rated excellent for distance with the driver and for soft feel. Keep in mind, what ball you use should also be determined by your swing speed, so I would check out the may issue of CR to be sure. |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls dont buy expensive balls if you are gonna lose them, my opinion at my homecourse people walk around and pick up balls out of the woods and sell them 40 for 10$, pro v1s, hx tours and all kinds of good balls in there plus u know oodles of noodles and top flites, but u cant beat it and most of them are in perfect condition |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/t...6/overview.htm Here's the new consumer reports review. It doesn't have every golf ball out there, but it looks like the Nike Power Soft is a big winner for value. I'm very curious how the new Ignite ball is. |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls I bought a couple dozen of the Nike Power Distance Super Soft balls because of the reviews. I like the feel and haven't noticed a loss in distance at all. They seem to spin well and I can hold the greens with maybe 5-10 feet of roll after the shot. They even check nicely on chips around the green. Best of all I got them at 12 dollars a dozen. |

| Re: 2006 Golf Balls There was an interesting article in a recent "Golf Tips" magazine about "ball fitting". They suggest a low spin, harder ball like Nike Mojo or Nike Distance for High handicappers, and a softer ball for low handicappers. The reasoning is, if you're prone to slicing the ball as a new golfer, the less spin the better. Whereas if you want to work the ball into a draw or a fade, you want to be able to spin the ball. In my hands, Mojo is my friend, he make me very happy mon. hahahaha |
