6-PW: used Adams Idea (original) or Snake Eyes Python OS As I stated in another forum, I am looking at replacing my current old irons with either Adams Ideas (original, not A1 or A2) or Snake Eyes Python OS's. I can get the Adams used on eBay for under a hundred and will have them reshafted by a friend who will charge only a little difference for the shafts. Or, my friend will build me a set of new Snake Eyes. The Snake Eyes will end up costing, I suspect, at least 50% more than what I would have in the Adams, but the heads would be new, now used. Though budget is an issue, the difference would probably not be great enough to be the deciding factor. Really, it comes down to the quality of the heads for a mid-high handicapper. Do you prefer one to the other, or would either serve equally well? Either way, I will definitely be fitted. Thanks, Bill

Re: 6-PW: used Adams Idea (original) or Snake Eyes Python OS Well, golfsmith has used Adams Idea clubs for about $300/set. The Pythons are $14/head, plus we'll say $14/shaft, plus $5/grip&ferrule. Soooo $264 for components (assuming 8 clubs) plus shipping plus assembly labour (which you're paying anyway for the idea reshaft). So from Golfsmith, it's about equal. I like the massive undercut cav on the Pythons, plus the OS helps add more forgiveness. It looks like the Ideas have a progressive undercut cavity... but I'd want it in all my clubs.

Re: 6-PW: used Adams Idea (original) or Snake Eyes Python OS LowPost, I appreciate your input. I agree with your assessment of the preference for the Python undercut cavities throughout. There was a 5-LW set of used Adams Ideas (stiff graphite) which I just won on eBay, however. I got the 8 irons shipped for $119 (US), and my friend will swap out the shafts for graphite regulars, if I need them, as well as adjust the clubs to fit my needs. So, money-wise, I think I came out okay. Besides, it completes my set with the Idea i-Woods I already have and like. That said, I really like the way the Snake Eyes look and the feedback I've read about them. If I had not gotten the bid on the Ideas, I was going to order the Snake Eye heads tonight. However, the Adams with shafts are costing only a little more than the Snake Eye heads alone. I hope it works out. Thanks again. Bill
