stiff shaft

I think my swing speed it 120ish, that is just a mathamatical guess, never had it measured before. my avg carry is 285. I THINK I am looking for a low spin, low launch, low torque shaft. but at a lot of fitting charts i see say you should have a fast tempo to use clubs with theese attributes, i have a really slow tempo, would it still be okay to get a x siff low torque (1.8) high kick point shaft?

I have no problem with acuracy with a 47" and i am thinking of getting a 48" i know the longer the shaft is the easier it will flex so you can get a lower torque and stiffer shaft with a slower swing speed. but is a low torque, high kick point shaft advised for such a short distance and high trajectory like mine?

Re: stiff shaft

Hi

For woods the lowest torque i would recommend is ( 2.5 ) , anything lower than that is generally used for the longer irons.

good luck

Re: stiff shaft

I use X stiff , 2.5 torque , with a LOW kick point ( i prefer a higher ball flight ) and like you i have a slower tempo .

thanks for the advise, how far is your avg carry?

But i would want a high kick point, i sky rocket my drives with a 9.5*. i tee the ball about a cm about the club face, i got the 4" tees.

and how long is your shaft.... because if you say you have slow tempo xsitff but a 45" i would think i could handle a xxstiff 48" or maybee a xxx, but i would like to hear your distance before i start making too many assumptions

Re: stiff shaft

i also do happen to have a driver with weight change technology, would it be advisable to get too stiff a shaft, and just add wieghts untill the shaft becomes flexible again. would this help distance?

Re: stiff shaft

I think your distance is fine. What i would like to know is do you hit a draw or a fade. As you know that a draw will give you extra roll after your carry distance, which too me sounds long enough.
How accurate are your drives? remember the woods are full of long hitters.

I carry 240 yards and my shaft is 45".

regards...Terry

wow, if you add avg 12 yds (well struck) per inch, with my 47" you would be hitting 288ish.

i usually draw it with my bad shot being a pull. so if i start to the right side it usually makes the fairway weather it is center of the right side. but i need all the distance i can get off the tee since i have good acuracy, but no distance with irons. my 8 is about 155-160. and the right hand drill has improved my accuarcy and distance a TON. but my 3i still only goes about 180, and i need to take advantage of the biggest drive i can.

Re: stiff shaft

well my computer is being wierd with numbers and for some reason i can't tell if you said you had a 43" or a 45" it keeps switching the numbers.

but do you know anything about driver head weight adding distance if using a stiffer shaft?

Re: stiff shaft

by adding weights it could.( and this is only a theory). throw your timing out.

myshaft length is 45" ( sorry i originally typed 43" )

my longest carry , wind assisted, was 250 yards.

Do you know any mathematical theoreis about this ie every 1" of shaft adds 12yds or ever inch adds 6mph actaully and every mph adds about 2.2yds theoretically

Re: stiff shaft

then you would have to consider things like "duration of impact" . this is why any mathematical theories regarding driving distances remain general.
TOO MANY VARIABLES.c
Clubhead Speed
Average Carry
70 mph 162 yards
80 mph 184 yards
90 mph 206 yards
100 mph 228 yards
110 mph 250 yards
120 mph 272 yards
130 mph 294 yards
140 mph 316 yards
Using Driver:
Average golfer is appox. 85 mph
Average PGA Tour Player is 110-115mph
Tiger averages 125mph
Top Long Drive Competitors are above 140 mph

Re: stiff shaft

i have also heard the lighter the shaft the more club head speed you can develope, is that true? it seems all the light shafts are the most expesive too
