| Looking for new irons. I currently have i3+ blades and im looking at some i5's. The i3's i have are blue dot and i feel like they are too upright, I dont feel like my wedge lies flat. All the other irons seem fine to me but this past month or so I have been drawing/hooking the shit out of them. Is it true more upright of a club causes a draw? I don't want to spend the 50 dollars a local shop wants to fit me, so I'm curious of what you think I should get. We have a ping account and I can get them for personal use that is why I'm not dealing with a golf shop. I'm 5'11'' and prefer +1/2 inch shaft length, I really feel like im bending over to hold a normal length wedge. Also, I'm curious of what shaft I should get, I hit my 4i about 190-200, 8i 150, wedge 125, if that gives you an idea of my swing speed and my natural ball flight is straight. I also think i get a driver 275 on average. |

| Re: Looking for new irons. Fitting for a set of golf clubs is usually free! Just tell them you want to buy a set of clubs and they'll fit them. Then you say "I'm gonna get them online unless you can pricematch" once you have the details. ![]() |

I charge a small fee just to spec irons. If you want them bent once you know what the specs are, I charge another fee per bent club. Once I get more heavily into fitting, the fee will be the fee, regardless of what you do with the numbers. If a company can 'refund' you the fitting fee, it just shows you how overpriced their irons are. They still need to make money on the clubs, and on the fitting equipment. It's either that, or you just got a fitting that's valued at $0. Either way, I'd be wary of the results. Sorry for the angry post - this practice of refunding fitting fees just really bugs me.

| Re: Looking for new irons. As for upright lies and the resultant ball flight, you won't bend your shots any more or less than normal, but you'll seem like you're pulling the shots if they're too upright, and it'll seem like a push if they're too flat. I played a round last weekend, and got kinda tired on the 18th. I found myself really bent over with a 9 iron in hand. I aimed at the pin (which was on the left), then proceeded to 'pull' my shot even further left into the bunker. Did I pull it? No. The toe was very, very upright. So the ball went to the hook side.
