Short clubs

Club named Chiper. I would like to talk about short Irons like Pitch, Sand, Aproach, and the special one named, chipper. What is the loft of every one, shot distance, when you have to play with them. Are there chippers in golf store ? Golf factories build up chipper club yet ?

jeosnual,

I hope I shed some light on your question.

A pitching wedge is anywhere from 45 - 49 degrees.
An Approach wedge is from 50 -54 degrees.
A Sand Wedge is from 55 - 58 degrees.
A Lob Wedge is from 59 - 64 degrees.

***NOTE: over a 60 degree may be called an extra (X) Lob Wedge.

A chipper resembles a putter. The difference is the face is not straight, it is at an angle. This allows you to use it like a putter and get the ball in the air. Good club for a beginner. One brand I like is a Slippery Frog. It has a putter shaft and a head like a Wood and is offset. It can be used for shots around green and in the bunkers.

Hope this Helps you,
