Beyond lacking the tech that went into the heads, they're first rate clones. I'd say there's nothing wrong, as long as you like playing clones.

Thats my point, in fact they may only be lacking the research dollars, they could well have the necessary tech.

Re: Trade-in Fake Clubs in Singapore

My personal experience with clones has been pretty good. In fact, perhaps because of the lack of research dollars and high priced technicians watching over every aspect of the club build, I've found some clone drivers I tried actually had a hotter face then the original while somehow still being classed as USGA conforming.

I thought clones weren't submitted to the USGA for COR testing? In fact, I thought most clones were 'as far below the radar' for anything as they could get?

It's probably true that a lot of clones are not submitted, but I have tried a couple from different golfers I've played rounds with that were USGA conforming, so you've got to assume that at least some of them are submitted.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying that all clones are as good as the original, but, some are. If you've got a good clone that works well for you, keep it.

They may look like the real clubs however, they're nowhere near the real clubs in terms of tech and playability. I used to play with a Dunlop Xti and boy could those clubs outplay these so called "clones" - i'd prefer to call them look alikes, cause clones can definitel outplay these.

Re: Trade-in Fake Clubs in Singapore

Funny you mention the xTi's... They were my first 'new' set of clubs (bought from a store, NIB)... lol.

Nice clubs to look at, though. Nowhere near as forgiving as my current clubs (GS SnakeEyes 600XC's).

I would probably have agreed with you on everything you've said a week ago. I'm one of these people who have been lusting after a Cleveland HiBore ever since I demoed on a couple months ago. When I saw the distance I was getting with it(best drive in one round - 297 yards straight up the pipe) I decided to buy one. My wife lost her job, money got tight, so at a cost of over $600CDN I found I couldn't afford it. After much time spent on Ebay being outbid time after time I found the clone. Classic Tour Highly High Bore 10.5 degree with a Gramman TP440 stiff shaft. Described as the best clone ever with a 100% money back guarantee including shipping. I thought I'd give it a try. Couldn't hurt with a guarantee like that, right. Anyway, I received it a few days ago. Today I went out to the driving range at one of local golf clubs and borrowed the Cleveland again so I'd have a comparison. After alternating between the Cleveland and the Clone for the first bucket of balls, I found I could hit the Clone just as well, even better on a number of balls. On the second bucket I used only the Clone. This driving range has markers out to 200 yards. The owner is kind of cheap so he used a 30 foot high net fence for the 250 yard marker. For the last 50 balls, I used my full swing speed. 9 balls hit the fence. The other 41 cleared the fence by anywear from 10 to 20 feet. Since they disappeared into the trees behind the fence, I can't possibly tell you exactly how far they actually went, but, it's safe to say with the way they carried the fence, I was getting at least 300 yards. In the next couple of days I'm going to another driving range that is signed out to 300 with about 50-60 yards of mowed field behind the 300 yard marker. I'll be able to get an accurate measurement of the distance I'm getting there and I'll let you know.

Anyway, there are "lookalikes" and then there are pretty much exact clones. If you've got clones, keep them. If you've got lookalikes, chuck them, trade them, sell them or use them if you play them well.

Re: Trade-in Fake Clubs in Singapore

Got my accurate measurements on my drives with the "clone" today. Just thought I'd post them. Most of my drives today were carrying between 270 and 290 yards. With roll they ended up between 300 and 320 plus some were a little farther with a few coming up short. All in all, I'm very pleased.

Re: Trade-in Fake Clubs in Singapore

Can I ask where did you purchase the Cleveland Hi-Bore clone? And, is that shaft you put on it the yellow one... ya know, the "limey"? How much for this clone? Do you know if this face is closed 1 degree? Thanks.
