| Golf Digest Irons reviews Guys , I'm looking to get a new Set of Irons very soon. When looking over the irons in this review they divided them into three groups: Game Improvement, Super Game Improvement and players irons. I shoot in the high & Mid 80s, some days in the 90s, and have been playing since last June, so Players irons are out for me. What's the real difference between GI and SGI? I've never this division before. I already hit the ball fairly high , but I do often mis hit so would I be better off with just a game improvement set? I'm looking at Taylor Made's R7, Callaway X20, and Callaway Big Bertha, Cobra S9, Cobra FP and Ping G5. Any Ideas as to what set would suit me better right now? Barry |

| Re: Golf Digest Irons reviews >>What's the real difference between GI and SGI? I've always thought that SGI clubs were for those people who hit the ball more by luck than judgement while GI clubs are for people who are starting to hit the ball with a bit more confidence and don't need so much assistance. Like SGI for when you can't get the ball in the air or hit it straight and GI for when you can do one but not the other (and of course, players for when you can do both!). If you are playing to those scores within a year that's a great achievement as many poeple never break 90. This might indicate that you have a bit of talent and that in a couple of years you might be looking to change up again. If this is true, another option would be to get a set of iron that are not quite players irons but are on the high end of GI. You've already picked some of these but here's my selection of high end GI: Callaway X20 or X-18 Pro Series, Ping G5, Snake Eyes 600C, Mizuno MX-23 (this last one one is discontinued so you might be able to pick it up a bargain).

| Re: Golf Digest Irons reviews BloodRunSun, That's about what I thought. I'm leaning more towards Game Improvement irons. I usually hit the ball high (If I don't look up) but not always strait. I'm working on the strait part. More than Likely I'll go for the Taylor Made R7 or Callaway X20 irons. Thanks, Barry |
