Tour Model Series 5 Irons, OK for beginner?

I have just started playing golf and have started to play more reguarly so need a "1st" set of clubs.

A friend has offered me his set of Tour Model Series 5 Irons for a good price. They are in good condition and assuming i can play fairly well with them i will buy them as a starter set.

I have looked up the model on the net but haven't came back with much information and was wondering if the clubs are very good and well suited to a beginner?
