Endurance: Best and worst - all in one day

Hey guys,
I went out for a quick 18 today, and was really striking the ball well. The front 9 I got -1 after a double bogey on the 9th, so needless to say, I was feeling good. I then got par on 10 and bird on 11....... that's when it all went pear shaped...... Nothing in my mind changed, as is usually the culprit, but I could feel my legs weakening and then my hips started to sway in my swing... i identified the things that were going wrong but just simply could not physically counter it! Does anyone know of ways to keep the body fresh and energised? I hope it is not a fitness factor as I do a lot of triathlon and strength training, all I can describe the feeling as is flustered. HELP!!!

Alistair

P.S. I ended up losing count of my score and went home after 17!

Alistair,

Welcome to the knee knocking, brow sweating club.

And you thought you had pressure at work...............joking aside you are suffering from "barriers" once you break your best score a few times it becomes easier, there is no fast sure way just keep putting yourself in this position and keep telling yourself your only there because your playing well.

It doesn't matter if its 80/90/100 it is still a mental barrier, once conquered it becomes the norm.

Good Luck and great to see you are playing that well.

Ian.

Getting past barriers is the problem?

I was going to suggest to drink more water !

Re: Endurance: Best and worst - all in one day

This sounds like fatigue. Try to drink a minimum of 1 liter of water and eat a piece of fruit for each nine holes you play. Ensure you have also eaten a high carb meal approx 1 hour before heading out. You should only need the amount that would fit in your hand to satisfy you for approx 2 - 4 hours. A bit of protien will extend the length of time the carbs will supply energy to your body. The fruit and the water will suppliment the meal you had prior to your round and keep your sugar levels constant.
