Great Sex for the analytical mind

Now that I have your undivided attention, I would like to tell you about a great book I've just finished reading.

Before doing so I would like to acknowledge and thank GTO member Aftford (aka Andy). It was Aftford's recommendation to read this book as I was having difficulties applying myself mentally to my golf game.

The book is titled 'Golf is not a game of perfect' by Bob Rotella.

I'm not much of a reader, infact, I hate it. Yet this book has made me re-assess and re-evaluate my approach and application to the game of golf.

The book took me only a couple of nights to read. It was concise and easily digestable.

Topics included training mentally and technically, everyone hits a bad shot and to accept that, be decisive, apply yourself to routine and game plan, be target focused and so on.

More importantly it has given me the tools and means to learn to trust myself and my game.

I am refreshed. I am going to become the best player I can be and reach my potential.

Golf is a game that we all love.

VP is a rare breed of person who, while struggling with her own game , always finds time to pass on sound, solid advice ( this girl really knows her stuff ). so it has been an absolute delight to know that the book has made such a frofound influence on her ( as it did on me and countless thousands of people )

bless you nicole

Slats,

Seriously, it won't take long to read. I'm quite a slow reader and it only took a handful of hours. It got me. Do it before your holidays.

Re: Great Sex for the analytical mind

Had my first comp round today after reading the book. Albeit was a 4bbb.

But I had 12 pars and a birdie. The negative was a couple of doubles.

Re: Great Sex for the analytical mind

Andy,

I have goals yet I'm going to add one more, ie, stick to my application of how I played today. This will allow me to attain goals set.

Would you agree.

Re: Great Sex for the analytical mind

nicole.
absolutely.

If my goal( this is known as an overall goal ) was to become the worlds greatest short game player , i would have to first set myself some smaller goals ( these are known as immediate goals ), learning to chip, pitch, play from bunkers and putt and then to practice them and by doing so i am striving to reach my overall goal.

Since reading Dr Bob's book i have carried this phylosophy over so that i have a goal in every aspect of my life.

cheers nicloe

Re: Great Sex for the analytical mind

Well last weeks round was a shocker but I didn't want to be there. This round took me out to 13.

Today was a different story. It was my 3rd round after reading the book and it was stableford.

I had 40 points with a miss and 3 one's. After the 1st nine I was 3 over the card.

I started to get a bit nervous and tried to 'stay out of my way'

The first 9 I had 22 points and on the way in 18 (the miss was on the 10th).

Well I broke 1.5 and now are playing from 11.0

The most important positive for me after today's round - there is room for improvement.

I just wanted to share this with you .

Nicole
