Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

Well I spent some time working on weight shift and impact and started hitting much better. I went to the range today and recorded my swing to see how the progress has come along. I was surprised that even though I seemed to get better results I still looked like I flipped early, although at least now it seems like my hands are breaking down over the ball instead of significantly behind it. My posture still needs some work but I didn't want to overwhelm myself with too much to think about at the same time.

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

your right leg on some shots is still straight. this will account for some bad shots , and make the swing feel wrong?????. the ball in one of your swings was to far back in your stance for a medium iron, keep trying ...the should be no swing thoughts in your mind (when you get it right) cheers gwyn

I would love to get to that point. Lately I have been trying to focus on only 1 or 2 things at a time. Is my setup posture too tall?

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

ive said in my first reply the only way to achieve a good posture is to stand straight (tall) with the club straight out in front of you , bend at the hips until the club is behind the ball, bend the knees until they are over the shoe laises, keep your head level to your shoulders, and you have achieved a good as any posture, the knee bend will help with the ballance that you must have within your swing posture,,,,,if you staighten your right knee on your back swing you will dip your head and hit the ball iether thing or fat . with no control....when you have the feel for this , you will not require any swing thoughts... good luck. Gwyn

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

Hi Pat,

As I said before, you have a very nice swing. I envy your tempo and motion.

Regarding set-up, you might be interested in this video. This will cover your forward tilt in your swing that has been commented upon.

It's one of the series of videos available on you tube by Shawn Clement. Double click on the video screen and you will be directed to the respective you tube page for this particular video. From here, click on the links to related videos and Shawn's other videos on all other golf instructions. He is a very good and consistent instructor. You may want to see his video on posture, as you seem to know that you are not bent over enough from the hip sockets and your back is slouched.

You are doing great,

Ted

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

I went to the range again today and worked on my posture. I feel like my setup was better but the problem is that whenever I stand like that for a long amount of time it starts to hurt my lower back. I didn't hit as well today but I think it was because my head is just so cluttered with swing thoughts right now and my posture was probably inconsistent throughout the swing since I had been using the old way for 10+ years.

Thanks for all the help, I will stick with it and keep trying to improve

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

Well I spent all day yesterday watching the awesome videos that rotator reminded me of (I saw a bunch in the past and loved them but totally forgot about them).

I went to the range again today and hit possibly the best I have ever hit in my life. My drives were long and straight, irons were crisp, etc etc. I didnt have the video camera with me, so I had to wait until afterwards to record my newest swing, but here it is nevertheless.

My driver lag is noticeably better if you watch it in slow motion, but my posture could still improve and I noticed that I still dipped a bit past parallel. The best part was that I hardly even had any swing thoughts. Shawn Clement is a genius. Thanks for all the help, it has been so great. I was really frustrated last week and totally disgusted/confused and now I am actually excited about playing again.

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

Hi PatzOr,

Shawn Clement is really a great instructor and is very generous with putting out so much information available to the public. I believe he is a natural left handed golfer, so for him o provide most of his instructions in right hand mode is awesome.

I could see that your swing is much freer. There seems to be more acceleration and a whoosh through the impact zone.

Continued good progress,

Ted

Re: Looking for some feedback, with swing video

Your video shows that you are still flipping your wrists at impact and releasing your lag too early by casting the club from the top.

Your swing tempo is good and if you could improve this problem you will start hitting cleaner and longer.

which club are you referring to? when I watched the driver swing in slow motion it seemed to me like the hands were in front of the ball (position) at impact

Sorry I was looking at the video from the 14th, the latest one is better. Lower body is not leading the downswing, try starting your downswing with a lateral bump of the hips.
