Iron Play

I like hitting my irons.
My short to mid irons distances are adequate and control is work in progress.
The issue is distance with the 4, and 3 irons, I have stopped trying to hit my1 iron.
Relative to my short irons getting distance with the long irons is a challenge.
For instance, depending upon the terrain and the wind I can use a 7 iron to hit from 145 yards to 166 yards. But rarely can I hit my 3 iron 200 or 205 yards and as crisp as I hit my other irons. My 4 iron I would look to hit +175 to 190 give or take, but can’t seem to get past 175.

Any suggestions as to what I can work on?

Re: Iron Play

The lack of distance could be down to a number of issues. Do you make good contact with your longer irons? what is the ball flight like? Do you swat your wrists through impact?

You may find using hybrid clubs as replacements for your 3 & 4 irons will help, many people find them easier to hit and they are very versatile clubs.
