What a game!!! plus pulling irons

I did 18 holes of a 36 holer last Wednesday. I could not drive for toffee. 9 of my drives were in the trees to the left. However, I was ace approaching and on the greens so score not too bad. Went out yesterday. I drove great. But, appoach middle to long irons were all pulled right. Could not hit the greens. The final 18 holes is tomorrow. So, if anyone has a suggestion to get my irons back on line it would be great. They started a little right then turned further right as they went.

Re: What a game!!! plus pulling irons

So many possibilities that it hard to say BUT when I have a fit of the pulls its either a) ball too forward or, b) too inside on the takeaway, - I don't know why these cause me to pull but they do so its worth checking when it hits you - or c) both; which is truly, truly horrible.

Robin's point on swinging inside out is a good one, It can create pushes. Sliding your body into the shot also does it and this can be an effect of the ball too far forward.

I find staying more stacked and rotating around a steady spine angle helps to keep my shots on track. I do use a very rotary swing though.

Well, thanks folks. Sorted that one today. But then pulled a few drives so no better score. No worse though. It's just a shame I cannot get it all right at the same time.

Well yes Bri, the game would certainly be different if we could play it well consistently but where would the fun be in that? No, we must just accept that the day we hit every GIR then - to keep the golfing gods happy - we get the 3 putt yips.

Try keeping your left heel on the ground during the backswing.

Will check that out at the range. Although I do try to do that anyway. But you never know what might have crept in I suppose.

Re: What a game!!! plus pulling irons

A bit late in this thread but I came across this video and it shows a good method of practising the impact position and clubface direction.
