How to keep your head still on down swing? Help...My swing looks good as far as plane but I'm struggling on keeping my behind the ball on the down swing and swaying a little on the back swing. This would agree with my score yesterday. I shot a 81 with 5 double bogeys coming from fat or left shots. On the back swing I'm focusing on getting behind the ball and sometimes my right knee goes to the right instead of staying put. Does anyone have on drills or ideas how to practice to fix the swaying and staying behind the ball?????????????? Thxs Brian Last edited by dearman1978; 11-09-2008 at 05:38 PM.. Reason: Speling

Re: How to keep your head still on down swing? You can stick an umbrella or old shaft in the ground at an angle, then stand beside it and swing without touching the shaft.

Re: How to keep you head still on down swing? Re the right knee swaying back, set up in the stance, and place a ball or 2x4 under the outside of the right foot. When you take your backswing, you will load up on the inside of the foot and the knee will brace itself and cannot sway back. This is what you should feel for weight shift anyways. Re the head dropping on downswing, you can do a few thing:- -take swings without a club in your hands in an open doorway, while your forehead is resting on the jamb. - have a friend facing you, with the butt of the grip of an extended club on your forehead, and you take swings with your club. -position yourself, so the sun casts your shadow, and take swings, to see if and where the head moves. I have little problem with the head moving back or turning on the backswing. I also don't mind that the head turns and comes up and around with the natural finish of the swing. But if the head moves ahead, it might be done prematurely, or the whole body moving, and might be indicative of "coming out of shot", losing spine angle, or legs and hips racing way ahead. Ted
