hitting the shot fat

why am I hitting my shots fat??

It may be due to you swinging too flat, try and swing a little steeper,
or maybe you are too dominant with the right hand. Try to lead a little mor with the left, thats assuming you are a r/handed player.

I find that my distance to the ball determines the shot for me.

Setup too close --> fat shot
Setup too far away --> thin shot

This works for me. It is not a big adjustment maybe an inch or two.

Hitting fat shots can be cause by a number of things, like:
1. hitting down too steeply
2. dipping (losing height)
3. hitting the ground before your swing 'bottoms out'
4. ball position too far back ...

Can you post a video of your swing and then we can give some more appropriate advice rather than 'general hope to fix it' stuff?

I struggle from time to time hitting it fat. And for me its only when I don't make a strong enough weight shift backwards.
