ball marking

is it ok to mark your ball with a single line across the centre and use this as a line of sight to help putting etc

that's a relief, .....played 2 won 2, in pairs matchplay & was questioned as to wether this was legal, probably cos we just won 6&5, and they were sore losers, anyway, thanks for the prompt reply, that's put my mind at rest.

Re: ball marking

I would have told them that it's my identification mark - a straight line (that shows me the way to the hole). LOL

Re: ball marking

hi
some of the pro's use balls with a line round them, think it was Dave Pelz that started off the line all the way round the ball to help with putting back in the 90s and you see more and more of this now. Pelz,s golf balls have a red line round them and he has been selling them for a while now and there legal.
some other plays do the same thing but use the name of the ball as there line up line.
cheers
bill
