Ball Identification marks

I was wondering what the rules are for putting identifying marks on your ball. If there is anything you can't do.

I could be wrong on this. But in competition I believe all your balls have to be exactly the same. Such as playing all Dunlop Loco 3s or all Dunlop Loco 2s but not a mixture of 2's and 3's. Unfortunately when you buy a box of balls it comes 1-4. I was wondering if I could take the ole sharpy out and cover the ball numbers with my identifying mark to make them all the same.

Re: Ball Identification marks

It only needs to be that the type of ball remains the same throughout the tournament. The ball # does not matter, in fact, it is bett er if you have a different # so provisional balls are better identified. Mark up the ball all you want too. Put lines for putting. Have you ever seen Duffy Walforf's? His kids each bet one to mark up with all different colors and designs. (Kind of like his hats)

Re: Ball Identification marks

Like Greg said, it's ball TYPE. And only in tournaments.
