Rules on Hazard (Continue)

Hi All,

Thanks for your input.

However, I did some further reading as well and found that the situation was indeed mentioned under 26-1/12 under Decisions on the Rules of Golf 2002-2003.

26-1/12

Question: A body of water is defined in part as a water hazard and in part as lateral water hazard. A ball last crosses the hazard margin at a spot where it is marked as a water hazard but it comes to rest in that part of the hazard marked as a lateral water hazard. In addition to playing the ball as it lies, what are the player's options?

Answer: Since the ball last crossed the margin of the hazard where it is defined as a water hazard, the options in Rule 26-1c are not available. Thus, the player is limited to the options in Rules 26-1a and -1b.

I guess this clarifies the whole situation. Sorry for the confusion as I should have checked the Decisions before posting the question.

Thanks

Ang

This ruling is fine for this senario. But is not for the one you described in the other thread.

You said that the ball flew over the water hazard, hit a tree (outside of the hazard I presume) and last crossed the lateral water hazard part of the water hazard. The last part is the importnat bit. This means that you can play under either rules 26-1a or 26-1c.

hope that clears it up

Keeks
