Honour in Stableford Competition

Can someone clarify what is the honour ruling in stableford competition? Is honour decided by points scored on the previous hole or strokes ? What happens if the honour is with the higher handicapper from the previous hole the players finish the current hole with equal points but the lower handicapper because he was conceding a shot took one shot less? Who has the honour on the next hole?

Hi Free mate,

Well when ever I have played in a stableford match, we have always let the player who has the fewer strokes minus their stroke allowance to take the honour of the next hole. If there is a same number of shots then we refer to the draw order. I don't know if this is correct but it has always worked so far.

Hope it helps

Cheers
Mark

Re: Honour in Stableford Competition

Thanks, I think we can conclude that it is the best net score that takes the honour.

32-1/3 Determination of Honour in Handicap Stableford Competition

Q. In a handicap Stableford competition, if B has the honour at a hole and A and B have the same gross score at that hole but A receives a handicap stroke, who has the honour at the next hole?

A. A has the honour because of a better net score.

As a rider, if neither player scores any stableford points, the best net score still counts
