3 types of scoring golf.?

I am currently doing an assignment on scoring golf for school. and i need to write a paragraph on; Par Game, Stroke Game and stablefold games. so if any one has a link to sites where i can find good info on these, or if any one wants to help, i would really appreciate it. thanks heaps.

What do you mean by Parr game (stroke play) this is medal play for handicap purposes?

And Stableford, this relates to points scored on each hole after taking the handicap allowance per hole!!

Parr game could also mean scratch play!!

Please advise.

For instance if you are playing a Stableford competition then you would play as follows.

On each hole through 1-18 you have a standard scratch (SS score) showing what some golfers think as the difficulty level of each hole shown next to the yardage of the given hole, now this SS is for match play tournament purposes and does not equate to the difficulty level of that given hole.

It was purely made to give match play an even balance throughout the game, I have diverse here just a bit but some players of golf might just have miss understood the SS as a full breakdown throughout the course of difficulty through 1-18 holes.

Now off we go to the first tee. You will see by looking at the tee marker, Hole 1 say 359 yards SS 6 par 4.

If your handicap is 16 and the stableford is a full handicap tournament then you will enjoy 16 holes on the course with 1 shot given to you as an allowance for handicap through 1-16 holes were the SS says 1-16. And on the SS 17&18 you will not receive a shot allowance. We all work on a net score per hole, some players play off 24 or more while some players play of plus 3 and better. Plus means you give 3 shots to the course before you start and a 16 handicaper would receive 16 shots free.

Ok here is how to calculate your points scored on a given hole.

Back to hole 1 you took 6 shots to finish on the par 4 = 2 over par on the hole played. But given your allowance of 16 handicap and you meet the SS you get a free shot and take that 1 shot of your final score in net terms to calculate the points awarded, so you would be a net 5 on a par 4 = bogey = 1 point

Stableford points scored and names given to them.

Albatross = 5 points = 3 under par of the hole played
Eagle = 4 points = 2 under par of the hole played
Birdie = 3 points = 1 under par of the hole played
Par = 2 points = par on that hole played
Bogey = 1 point = 1 over par on that hole played
Double bogey = 0 points = 2 over par on that hole played

If you are a 25 handicap how many points would be scored on hole 1?

If you are a plus 7 handicap like Tiger Woods how many points did you score on hole 1??


BTW just in case you are very new to the game!! And might think you have 16 free shots per hole.

You only have 16 shots over the full round through 1-18 and the SS shown on each hole will show you what hole you can get your free net shot on, and can be taken off you score of the hole played to help calculate you stableford points......
