Moveable object

I recently played a round with my nephew. He hit a tee shot which was rolling towards a water hazard which also was where 2 ducks happened to be standing. His ball rolled under one of the ducks who squatted on the ball & stopped it's forward progress about 6 inches from dropping into the water. Had the duck not stopped the ball, it would have rolled in. It was a friendly game so we didn't worry about a penalty stroke (we thought it was pretty amusing)BUT, can someone shed light on what the ruling would be in such a situation? By the way the duck is fine -no harm no fowl

Re: Moveable object

The duck is classified as an outside agency; there is no penalty if a moving ball hits an outside agency and the ball is then played as it lies - which in your case may or may not have been within the margins of the hazard depending on where the stakes were.

Pleased to hear the duck was OK.

I don't know but I expect the players quacked up laughing about it.

You don't think we're over-egging this one a little bit?

This is eggsactly the type of fowl humour that flies around this board. No matter which side of the pond you're on, it's birds of a feather, time and again.

Re: Moveable object

Thanks for clearing that up for me bdbl. I'm glad to see that others didn't duck the issue & took to the pun - fun like ducks to water. Thanks again!
