Paul Azinger

Does anybody know EXACTLY what happened to cause Paul Azinger the two stroke penalty at Canadian Open. I have heard that his caddie moved the flagstick before his ball (Paul's) which was chipped came to a stop and i have heard it was Fred Funk's ball that was chipped and Paul's caddie breached rule 17-2 by lifting the flagstick before it stopped rolling. What happened?

yohead,

This is from www.golfweb.com

Azinger was penalized Friday after a TV viewer alerted PGA TOUR officials that the veteran player's caddie, Ted Scott, removed the flagstick from the hole while playing partner Fred Funk's ball was still in motion on the 13th green -- barely moving about 2 feet past the cup after a chip.

Rule 17-2b states: "In stroke play, if a fellow competitor or his caddie attends, removes or holds up the flagstick without the competitor's authority or prior knowledge while the competitor is making a stroke or his ball is in motion, the fellow competitor shall incur the penalty for breach of this rule."

you know... golf is supposed to be a gentlemans game...

that goes to viewers as well. Is anyone else out there sick and tired of these people who think they knowitall and cause someone a heap load of cash?

like seriously, where are your ethics? Think about it for a second, You could be causing this man to miss his next payment on his house... all for what?... your own ego?

get a life. Go out and get a job instead of sitting at home with your pga rule book watching golf for four days trying to cost someone a tournament. B.S. if you ask me.

Let the officials on the course do their job... go out and one yourself.
