Nassau's (the game)

How do you play for Nassau's?

or Skins for that matter.

Are there any other games that make a round a bit more interesting and/or level the playing filed a bit?

Re: Nassau's (the game)

At my club we play 5 bet. We usually have about 20 guys in our chooseup. We all throw in 10 a piece for skins (they do carry over). We then split up into 5 foursomes or 4 fivesomes. The 5 bets are as follows: holes are 1 bet, birdies are 1 bet, greenies on par three are 1 bet, sand saves are 1 bet (only to save par or better), and the last of the five bets is what we call gators. Gators are when you chip in from off the green for par or better. It is really fun and you can make more than one bet off of one shot. For example the most bets or dots as we call them (becasue we put a dot on the scorecard for the bets) is a sandy gator birde. Say on a par five you hit your second shot in a greenside bunker. You then blast toward the hole but you don't get your third shot onto the green it is on the fringe. If you hole that shot from the fringe it would be a sandy gator birdie which is 3 bets. You can make the bets any dollar amount.

Re: Nassau's (the game)

Do you know what playing "Nassau's" is?

5 bet sounds like fun, as long as everyone is more or less in the same league!

Re: Nassau's (the game)

Nassau is three games in one. You can make the money amount whatever but most of the time it is 5 us dollars. You play for 5 dollars on the front nine, back nine, and overall.

As for 5 bet it is set up fairly. We take the four lowest handicaps, then match them up with the next 4 best and so on.

Re: Nassau's (the game)

Hey James,

my usual sunday foursome has about a 15 to 20 stroke spread from best to worst. So to add a little "pressure" or effort if you will to the round we sometimes play bingo/bango/bongo. you get one point (bingo) for first on the green (regardless of stroke count, just who got on from farthest out), one pt. for bango, which is closest to the pin after everyone is on, and one for bongo, which is longest putt made. usually the bet is 1/2 dollar a point.
Works well to even things out really. If you are a shorter hitter off the tee you got first chance at bingo. and if you dont hit the green in two and are left just on the fringe, you should be able to chip closest then and get bango. and the bet makes everyone work just a bit harder to make the putt and get bongo. Seems to makes you work all of your approach shots just a little more focused.
peace
Doug

Good way to speed up play as well, I guess!
