Clear my hips enough, what do you think?

I have a poor qaulity vid from range, do you think my hips are not clearing are making my follow through to upright.

A few other problems to work on as well.

I hit it quite high, generally a good strike, playing off 8.

Thanks for any constructive critism

Why are you concerned about your hips? If your ball flight is good then they don't matter.

If your ball flight is too high and lacking distance you are probably not hitting the clubs sweetspot, keep your hands ahead of the ball and hit down, steeper with shorter than longer irons and fairway woods/recoveries. Hands level with driver and hit the ball in the equator.

Re: Clear my hips enough, what do you think?

I'm thinking that clearing my hips quicker will stop upper body leaning back to much preventing holding the release.

I hit it high average distance 150yds 7 iron.

I want to make a more penertrating ball flight for a windy links course i'm thinking of joining.

Cheers

Deloft the clubface and hit the sweetspot, that will do it.

Re: Clear my hips enough, what do you think?

Hello 1macca:

Your hip rotation looks good although the righ hip moves back toward the target line a little early in the downswing which I believe is bringing you out of your spine angle a bit early as well. Please note that your swing is very sound so this is a very small adjustment. Try keeping your right hip back away from the target line as you move the weight to the left foot (think of moving the weight to the left heel) and start to clear the left hip out also away from the target line. This will give a little more room for your arms to swing inside and you can keep the left wrist flat and right wrist bent without a block because you will release straight down the line.

Currently your swing indicates great control of your arms as you really bring the right elbow to the right hip beautifully. As I suggest, my tip may allow just a little more room wich can reduce the need for excess hand action to square the club. Instead you will rely more on an arm and torso release. The reason you may be hitting shots high is a release of the wrist in a cupping manner. The flat left wrist should give you the best angle of true club loft. Again, the upright finish is a result of coming out of your spine angle early. You have a very good swing but these ideas may help.

Re: Clear my hips enough, what do you think?

Thanks Tim
I think you are right in the hip slide towards target, i feel i dont have room to come inside on way through.

Have worked on clearing hips in slow mo in front of a mirrrow, trouble is when on the range i some times follow suit with shoulders spinning across the line. As stated i think sliding hips is getting upper body behind ball causing early flick release, when i'n on song i get away with it, but when i lose a bit of timming my strike suffers.

Going to concentrate on hip rotation through ther ball, will let you know how it goes.
Thanks for all advice, cheers.
