 Swinging new clubs Hi there, first post on this site. I've been playing this great game for about 6 months and shoot in the 80's. When I just started I got a set of Hippo starter clubs that have quite a lot of offset. I have just purchased a new set of Taylormade LT irons as I don't think there's much more I can get out of the starter set. I was just wanting some advice as to what I should be concentrating on when I first hit the range as I will have to get used to not having any offset. Any thoughts? I'm not interested in trying to shape my shots or anything like that yet. I think getting it straight concistent will do for now...   |

| graco, Shooting in the 80's after 6 months you are well ahead of most I teach. After 6 months most are shooting in the 100's. To answer your question, the thing to look out for is the leading edge being straight to the target. On offset clubs, from a setup position they tend to look open. A blade will look the opposite, more closed. Take a setup position and let a friend move the club head to straight ot take some pvc pipe and a T connector. Put your heels on the straight peice and setup to the extention withthe leading edge straight on the pvc. This is also a very useful alignment drill. Hope this helps you, GolfBald

| Just a point of clarification: The TaylorMade RAC LT irons do have some offset, it's just less than the OS irons. Even the MB irons have a little bit of offset. http://taylormadegolf.com/global/pro...C/LT/index.asp I swing the LTs and love them. If you're shooting in the 80s then I think these have the potential to be great clubs for you (assuming they suit your swing well). |
