| Typing or Voice Dictation... I type about 45 words per minute, but I have since given it up. Years ago I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and I thought the program was overrated. Essentially, with a headset you speak into the computer and it does the typing for you. I'm trying Dragon naturally speaking professional version 10 -- and it's incredible. It can easily type, 120 words per minute -- about as fast as you speak it appears on the screen. The program scans your documents to learn your vocabulary, sentence structure, etc. I even use program to navigate the Internet. I'm not sure though, how well it works on a laptop. So if you were ever thinking of purchasing this kind of software -- it has finally arrived! So I no longer have typos -- the computer doesn't know how to misspell a word -- but if a word seems terribly misplaced something that sounds similar to it is what I had intended to say! James H. |

| Re: Typing or Voice Dictation... This post (and your others) were voiced? I was with you - Dragon 'naturally speaking' was brutal. But if this is the result of dragon 10, I may have to give it another look. I type about 45 WPM 'creating at the keyboard' mostly due to watching what I type and eliminating spelling errors as I go, but can type around 65 if I'm simply transposing (typing in pre-made text) with remarkable accuracy. |

As for paragraph 2, for some reason as a married man with 3 kids, Mardi Gras in N'oleans just doesn't have the same appeal as it did as a single college student. Although, Bill, I'm worried - what happened to club 31-49? Or are those the 'you don't go anywhere for fear of kids blowing up the house' years? |

| Re: Typing or Voice Dictation... [quote=LowPost42;10548263]This post (and your others) were voiced? I have used Dragon for about the last five or six posts. All of your points are dead on. I can't think as fast as I speak either, which tends to get me a lot of trouble -- with Dragon I can say scratch that -- and it will delete my previous entry up until about the last period. I tried that in the real world but it doesn't work -- when I say scratch that -- people still look at me as though they heard what I said! I'm giving you a bone here! If you go to pirate Bay, and search for Dragon NaturallySpeaking, you'll find a professional version 10 -- with a serial number -- which you can download free, and which will do the updates -- I skipped the registration part, and if you go this route perhaps you should too. Google pirate Bay -- and you can search for Dragon NaturallySpeaking professional -- when I paste the link here for pirate Bay -- it takes you to eBay -- very strange! If you don't download off the Internet using bit torrent, or some other program -- if you have kids or no teens who have lots of mp3s - music -- this is probably how they got it - and they could help. Good luck. James H. Last edited by jamesh; 11-20-2007 at 06:04 PM. |

Great - you tell me this now!!! Where were you when I was downloading this stuff!!! I am not sure that it is illegal in Canada. The courts decided some time ago here that the antiquated laws (copyright) sought to be applied to downloading did not apply, and ever since people have been downloading music and other files with impunity. To counter this, the legislature has drafted a new set of laws which haven't been enacted yet. But your point is well taken. I see it thought, as payback. I bought a few earlier generations of this software which was grossly misrepresented - they have finally been able to deliver, so be it late! Jamesh |
