However, this makes me wonder if it's OK to ask about your yardage - would it be considered 'otherwise known', especially if the sprinklerheads are marked? |

| Re: Worse Golf Advise You've Gotten My point was to try to come up with a way to shut the guy up. "same as last time" because it is telling Greg how to do the next shot, while Greg hase many more options than the "shape" of the last shot. Hence, advice. Stating where OB is located (right) is in a sense telling Greg where to aim (left) ... advice. |

| Re: Worse Golf Advise You've Gotten It seems to me any advice is bad advice. What creeps into your thoughts (almost automatically) puts you in the mechanical mode of thinking. That is the worst thing that can happen while playing. I never, ever, say anything to my playing buddies.....unless they ask me for my advice. ![]() |

| Re: Worse Golf Advise You've Gotten My Uncle and my dad got clubs from my Gramps when they were little. My dad kept the clubs and loved it his whole life and then started me while my uncle sold his clubs as soon as he got them, HAH! So...My uncle said if somebody gives you clubs, sell them and don't waste your time with it! Terrible advice! |

| Re: Worse Golf Advise You've Gotten Swing harder! |

| Re: Worse Golf Advise You've Gotten I don't think raise your head when swinging would be very good advice? Your bum looks big in those trousers is no go advice for my wife ![]() Burnt Ochre trousers and Powder Blue shirt "Suit you Sir" from the pro shop assistant would not rate to highly with me. ![]() "I cant understand why you hit that bad shot" type advice does not really motivate me. "If you would not have <enter the error here> then you would have putted that one" also does not float my boat. Last edited by BrianW; 03-12-2008 at 12:05 PM. |

Saying "keep your head down" is bad advice is not the same as saying "raise your head"! Keep your chin up/keep your height/look down your nose at the ball, is more what I'd say. I think "Keep your head down" is responsible for poor posture changes during the swing, conjures images of people burying their chin into their chest and fatting and thinning followed swiftly by chucking and swearing! ![]() |

I like to think about keeping the head stable with no bobbing. |
