| Hooking with the irons At present, my game has become so erratic, each visit to the course has become an ordeal, rather than a pleasure. I have been concentrating on curing my out to in swing. I really concentrate on getting on an inside track into the downswing. Unfortunately, this means that my iron shots go right (I'm a lefty). Sometimes they start right and curve even further, or start straight and then hook. Whenever I try and cure this by weakening my grip, I end up with a pushed shot. Other areas of my swing that I've, also, been working on are to keep a connected triangle and whip my hands through the ball at impact. Here's the crazy part. When I take a practice swing, I can reverse from the full follow through position back to impact and, my clubface is still square. However, when I strike a ball and do the same thing, I notice that the clubface comes back to impact position closed. I'm not having a problem hitting the driver or fairway woods straight, it's only the irons that this is happening with. I'm spending a lot of time in the woods looking for my ball, after playing my second shot. Has anyone had this experience and/or can suggest what is happening. I have been practising, today, at the driving range and cannot seem to find a cure. Help desperately needed!! Thanks to anyone who can help me maintain my sanity. regards Alan N |
