What most pros say, atleast from what I've seen, is that they do the same thing warming up for every event. Just do what you always do for every tournament because if you're playing in districts then I know you must have played in some tournaments already. They say keep your routine the same for every tournament because it helps to calm your nerves and it feels like you've done it many times before so it's nothing new.

Works for them, they're getting paid lol.

Good luck!

Thank you for the reply, but the thing is i have no routine. because in the past our coaches have caused us to be late so we dont have enough time to drive the ball on the range or anything so therefore my routine varies. I just want something to go by for monday. something that will get me loose and ready to go mentally? Is there anything i can do on the way there to prepare mentally?

Re: District High School Golf Tournament

OK Rich.

I'm a hack. Let's get that out of the way. However, I'm a well-read hack.

Might I suggest the following PSR:

Stand 6 feet behind your ball.

Find a target in the distance. Take your grip on your club while looking at this target. Imagine, as clearly as you can, your ball flying towards your target. Take a practice swing with this vision in your head.

Move up to your ball, set your club down behind it, and get into your stance.

Bring back the image of the target, and the ball flying towards it.

Swing.

I've hit incredible shots like this - incredible because I can't believe how much they head to the target! The guaranteed screwup here is if I lose the image of my ball flying to the target. If I think about mechanics or what I ate for breakfast and lose the image, it's a **** shoot.

Good luck!
