Re: still struggling with downswing

hi
one thing i see if your right elbow is behind your hip so your hips are beating your hands to the ball. if you look at all top golfers you will see that the right elbow is ahead of the right hip as you come into the ball.
work on swinging slower but with the right elbow dropping in front of the right hip bone and i think it will stop to lifting as your elbow has to move round your hip and that often makes you stand on your toes.
best of luck
bill

Re: still struggling with downswing

Hi Michael,

You are really stood up straight at impact, you need to work on maintaining your spine angle and knee flex.

Here are some drills:

Can you get someone to put a hand or club shaft on top of your head while you make swings and get the feeling of keeping your head at the same height?

Stand at address with your arms crossed and hold a club across your chest, practice turning back and through so that one end of the club points just behind the ball at the top of that backswing and the other end points to the same position at the end of the follow through. This will train you to rotate around your inclined spine angle.

Feel your left shoulder coming under your chin in the back swing and your right under it in your follow through.

Working on these should help.

Re: still struggling with downswing

the crazy thing is that i can play off a 7 handicap with that impact position (and its not down to my short game which is average at best) i can strike it well when my timing is on not far but straight but when my timing is off i play like a 20 handicaper realy frustrated cause i dont think i can get handicap any lower with these faults been trying to fix my downswing all winter but just as bad as ever
