Let's make golf fun again... ...by getting rid of my hook... I came here last summer asking for driving tips and the responces I got really helped, so here I am again, asking for your help... Okay, lets go over my swing right now. I tee the ball of my front left foot, I start with about 75% of my weight on my back foot, and at address I bring my left shoulder in. (This was the advice you guys gave me when I was hitting the ball low and into the ground). I'm a young guy so flexibility is not an issue and whether I take a 'nice an easy' swing or an aggresive swing, my ball flight will start staight and then it takes an immediate left turn. Is there any way to fix this? my golf grip...(incase this helps) ![]()

Re: Let's make golf fun again... I concur with both posts. Left hand grip should run from the fleshy heal of your hand to the first joint of your index finger. Right hand should be in the base of the two middle fingers. Right thumb is way too long on top of the shaft. Left thumb should fit snuggly under teh pad at the base of the right thumb. The thumb and index finger of the right hand should look like this: http://www.newgolfswing.com/newgolfswing04.php PS - what a strange place to have a shoe lace! ![]()

Re: Let's make golf fun again... Here is one page from some step-by-step instructions on how to grip the club. This article helped me understand how to grip the club with the fingers better than any other I have found. The following is one page: http://golf.about.com/od/golftips/ss...rip_lead_2.htm Go through all the steps with lead and bottom hand. You will find a link for each under "Related Articles". There are so many important fundamentals to the grip. Your right thumb position is a tip-off to some problems with your grip. Good luck.

Re: Let's make golf fun again... hi you should not see the first two fingertips of your right hand and yours are easily seen, your right hand have has to be over more so you feel the club in your fingers of your right and the thumb of your left hand in the palm of the right. right thumb not on top of the club but on the left side of the club. will feel strange at first but your better getting it right now cheers bill

I'm not looking for any golf instrunction currently but I'm just wondering if any of you could tell me of your expierences playing in a tournament on your high school's golf team. Do you play along with another teammate? How long are the rounds? Any personal insight? |

You play 18 holes (normally), but some cut them to 9 depending on sunlight, weather, school prefs...etc. Expect a quick round. They are not like the ol guys that like to chat and carry one about **** no one really cares about except them...you are kids and all you want to do is beat the **** out of each other. Some of the tricks to having a good round is getting there early and being able to warm up properly. Most kids are running around and think they can just jack it up on the first tee and play well right away. If you can get ahead early in the match, you have a big advantage, because you then get to control how YOU play rather then being forced to play catchup and attempt low percentage high risk shots. If you do find yourself behind early, make a note of why...were you making mistakes? Or was he making spectacular shots? If it was you, back off a bit and play conservative for a few holes and let him make some mistakes of his own. If you are up against a guy playing out of his shoes, then you just might be forced to step it up and play hard...otherwise you are done early and can get back to your homework...
