hitting out on end of clubs

I have trouble hitting all my shots on the end of my clubs. Anybody have a fix for this problem?

Which end would that be? The toe end, the heel end, or the leading edge on the bottom end of the club?

Regardless, if you're mis-hitting on the surface of the club working on your balance and posture would be a good idea.

Thanks for your reply. The mishits are on the toe of the club. The divots are inconsistant but I do not study them but will start. I do pull the ball a lot and mishit or lose distance because of the toe shots. Not sure of the OTT swings but will be keen to see if that is the problem. I don't slice the ball unless I try. More pulls or straight shots. This toe hitting seems to be more with my irons. When I try to correct with in to out swings, I get hooks and/or pull. Hope this is not too much info. Thanks again.

i tend to think like Go Low that your coming form out to in and closing the face to try and compensate. try and keep the right elbow just ahead of the left hip as you swing down that stops your swinging out to in and gives you that in to out shot.
try and swing slow and see if your getting a bit of a chicken wing on the downswing with the left elbow.

This is often a symptom of tension in your arms, tension in the muscles tends to pull the club towards your body, this can cause hitting off the toe and also hitting the ball thin.

Try to maintain a light grip and keep your arms relaxed trough the swing.

Wow, what great reponses; golf lessons that would cost me dearly. I don't think I have OTT problems, but will recheck. I never ever shank and I usually never ever say the word. However, I am intrigued by the arm thing. My arms are tense and I am not sure about the rotation, but will be observant. I know at lot of others who have the toe hit problem on most shots. Sounds like there may more that one cause. I will practice with correcto tape and get back on good results. Thanks Again.

I just went through a major bout of this myself. For me, it was a combination of inconsistent posture, bad alignment, tension in my arms, and releasing the club too early.

To fix, I've been concentrating on fundamentals, especially alignment, and the "pump" drill to work on my release. There is another great thread about this titled "Clubhead passing the hands", but here is the link to the drill if you want to check it out.

Thanks guys, I now have a lot of clues and need to check on them. For Go Low: yes, I do think my arm rotation is faulty as you described and this will give me something to work on. I have never read or been introduced to this arm rotation concept. I guess I just take the arm rotation thing for granted. Questions: Do you puposely fan open the face (rotate arms clockwise) of the club? I think you say no to this. Where should the face be pointing at the top? Purposely rotating my wrist seems to put tension in my arms. I will have to work on this. I do at times have the problem of over active hands. My pulls are all solid and long; I suspect that they are center hits and perhaps OTT results.

You guys have been great and give me hope. I am 65 and have been playing for 40 years, have a 10 handicap but have always been inconsistent, mostly hitting left then right and back left and so on with weak hits in between. I have threaten to give up golf hundreds of time. My driver swing speed is 100 mph. One of my golfing buddies thinks I sometime get my hips open to fast and my arms stuck behind and then compensate by flipping my hands to catch up.
