Holding The Release

Hey all,
I am a good ballstriker and score very well, but I want to hit the ball farther . Doesnt everyone, well I have a genuine problem that once fixed should clear this up. I release the club early from the top, very early. I try to consously hold on to my wrist angle but i still release it early. I tried forward pressing...nada. All of this I know because of video. Perhaps I will post a video of my swing to get to the bottom of my real problem. In the meantime, is there anyone out there with a suggestion that could help me hold on to that release i.e. grip pressure...anything. I have good posture so thats deff. not the problem, fairly good turn, great shift into my left side/ clearing of the hips...clubhead just wont cooperate

3/4 swings. Lots of them. 100's of them over and over and over. This should remove your casting desires.

Re: Holding The Release

Is there something I need to focus on during these 3/4 swings so I dont release the club early on the 3/4?

My guess is you are dropping the club from a steep angle coming down, and that is causing you to loose the ability to hold your release. If your downswing starts with the club shallowing and dropping behind you then your back wrist will retain its hinge.
(Look at the picture below: gravity and the weight of the club will work for you if you approach like the image on the left, but it will work against you if your approach like the image on the right).

Re: Holding The Release

Thus my problem. I will try to shallow my swing slightly as I am a little steep, and see what happens. Thanks for the thoughts guys

Try feeling the club in the fingers of the left hand and really loosen the right hand. Keep this feeling as you transition so that the right hand doesnt try and throw it down from the top. Also try a pause at the top and feel that lower body go forward as those fingers keep that bent right wrist in place

What you need to do is try to get your left shoulder as far away from the ball as you can during the downswing.

Re: Holding The Release

As far away as to the left? Another question, I played good golf sat. and shot a 75 with no birdies. 3 lip outs and 5 total missed birdy opportunities inside of 15'. Ok so im pleased with that. Sunday I go out and shoot a disastress 85. ive only posted 4 scores total now in the 80's this year...this is the first over 81. I could not get the ball in the farway and was pulling/hooking everything...any suggestions?
