| An Error on My Part Hello all, I would just like to correct myself on a comment I made recently in a now closed thread. At the time the discussion was covering all aspects of the swing and how it would/should feel and look. I was in disagreement with BrianW when I stated that one should feel open to the target at impact, with shoulders slightly open, torso more so (that rhymes!) and hips the most. Whilst I would still hold up that this is how it LOOKS, the feeling that BrianW came up with was to FEEL like you face the ball with the shoulders at impact. This is the point I disagreed with. Turns out I was wrong and he was right. I started really slapping it like a little girl over the weekend and was absolutely disgusted with the shots I was hitting. So I spent 4 hours on the range yesterday re-building my swing and indeed found that my body was out-racing my arms. No lag, no power, open clubface. Yuck. When I swung to face the club from start to finish and feel like I had square shoulders at impact I had lag, power, timing and a full release. The ball compression was great and I hit shots I hadn't hit for a while. 185 yard high 6 irons held into a firm left to right wind. So, thank you Brian and apologies. It just goes to show that the smallest seed of the wrong thought can (and does) ruin a swing. We are, of course, hitting a ball sideways in relation to our posture. So it makes absolute sense to keep the shoulders more square through impact to help us start the ball along our target line and get everything working in sync. Typically, I twisted my knee playing tennis last night so I can't go and work on it today. And to rub it in, it's the best day of the year so far. ![]() ![]()

| Re: An Error on My Part Quote:
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. ![]() |

| Re: An Error on My Part hi Brian i thought jbrunk was joking and did not think he was serious. like you i have always found Neil's posts to be well thought out and well written and have always held him in high esteem. if jbrunk was not joking then it is the rudest post i have seen on here. there seems no reason for him being rude as Neil said nothing to be attacked for?????? cheers bill |

| Re: An Error on My Part yea, in JBrunks defense i think that was ment as a joke. watch billy madison, direct quote. it is quite funny, the delivery in the movie. tho in reference to the movie i am not sure why he decided to use that quote there, it seems a little out of place, but when i read that post i don't think about what he was saying to neil, i think a bout a funny quote. american humor vs. english humor i guess? but i do agree with you neil, i think that was the post with go low you were refering to. i think they both ended up agreeing on the LOOK vs the FEEL. | Re: An Error on My Part Oops! Sorry for any misinformation, I totally meant that as a joke, Neil and others. I do have a crazy sense of humor, and I love movies. It felt like the right time to use the quote. I don't visit the site as much as I used to so maybe that let it drag on longer than it should have. Cheers to all. JB ![]() |
