| I would check ball position, wrist cock, and left wrist breakdown at impact. Ball position: too far forward or too far back Wrist cock: not completing backswing letting wrists cock naturally Left wrist: just before impact some lose the lag allowing club head to pass the hands All of these will cause extreme loss of power. Try taking half swings making sure toe of club is pointing up, then follow through toe of club pointing up. Try making sure light grip pressure as this will allow wrists freedom to cock and release through the shot Try pointing butt end of the club ahead on downswing instead of letting club head swing past the hands. Let me know how these suit you. |

| Re: power loss your idea of a lighter grip has got some of my yardage back but not all of it. what should the left hand look like at impact? and i wasnt completing my backswing. i still feel like something is missing in my swing. Last edited by BillyB; 07-18-2004 at 02:55 AM. |

| Re: power loss Depends on neutral or strong grip. Neutral grip, back of left hand facing target at impact. Strong grip, I prefer to not worry about where the back of left hand will be at impact because I know the face of the club will be square at impact with a strong grip. Power: make sure you are staying "in the shot" and not pulling up and away at impact. Personally, I like to watch the back of the ball get struck by the clubface at impact, this keeps me in the shot. I suspect you are pulling out of the shot by raising up; always remember to keep the body relatively level throughout the swing, no swaying, raisingup, but level through to the finish. |

| Re: power loss ok.thanks.i suspect that you are right. also, when i hit the ball, it jumps off the club face like it is going to go far but then all of the sudden the ball dies down and lands short. and the power loss is mostly with the irons, not the woods.
