Re: To Roll or not to Roll Hi Sammy,
A much debated point. The left foot should ideally stay grounded throughout the swing. The left knee lightly flexes inwards (towards the right knee - for right hander) on the backswing, which depending on how flexible you are can cause the your left foot to turn inwards slightly (on the ball of your foot). Some people who are not so supple find it extremely difficult to swing back fully without lifting their left heel slightly, in this case we can make the exception. Otherwise if your flexibility is ok then you should try and keep the left foot grounded as it helps generate a coiling motion on the backswing between the upper and lower body. It is this coiling that helps us to generate much of the power that we generate in the throughswing.
