Bubble Slice

I am stuggling to use my Taylor Made Bubble 2. Each time I use it on the range I slice it. I use a 5 wood on the course as I know i will hit that straight. Help please.

Re: Bubble Slice

What is the shaft flex rated on the driver and on the 5 wood? Chances are that the driver has too stiff of a shaft for your swing.

Re: Bubble Slice

Thanks for the reply. How do I find the shaft flex rating?

Re: Bubble Slice

The shaft flex should be on the shaft with the rest of the information about the shaft. It may only have a letter R (regular), S (stiff) or X (extra stiff).

Re: Bubble Slice

It's a common problem. I could easily make a living from teaching students who have the same problem as you.

I bet you the problem is swing tempo, which unlike everyone will tell you, has to be faster than the rest of the clubs. Remember that the club has a 70"-inch radius to travel while the hands have 43/44/45" and the hips have maybe 14". So, speed up your hands and slow the rest of your body down ...

At impact make certain your body is level with the club (see GregJWillis' impact drill), not behind it.

If you need some drills to help you along the way to get the feeling of the movement, let me know.

Re: Bubble Slice

Thanks for the tips so far. My Bubble is Regular 80 9.5 degrees. The 5 is regular as well but not a bubble. I will look at my swing as my pro had told be to always be behind the ball. I would appriciate any teaching drills you have.

Re: Bubble Slice

One other thing that could be is your 5W is offset and the driver is not.

Along with GregJWillis's impact drill, make sure you are coming from the inside to square at impact.
