Major muscles of the back.........???

How conscience are you of the major muscles your back during your backswing and downswing? I was reading the information from the web site listed below (which I think is very interesting) and was just wonder what most people are feeling in their back and left arm during the takeaway and decent to impact.

Are most actually feeling the back muscles turning the arms while the hands and arms actually remain passive? How do you eventually ingrain these muscle movements into your psyche?

And on a scale of 1-10 (1 being the least) how involved are the hands and arms on the takeaway and movement back to the ball?

Re: Major muscles of the back.........???

My backswing is an 8-2 arm to back. I'm very aware of my left arm, and my right shoulder/lat - keeping sure to bring my left arm across my chest and under my chin, and to keep my right shoulder square (not pulling).

Then I trust my ability to get the club back to the ball, and stop thinking about muscles.

Re: Major muscles of the back.........???

Al,

Certainly an interesting sight - I too would be interested in what the experts say about:
1. a backswing technique that instructs the big muscles in the upper part of the front and back of the left side of the body remain tight and taut throughout the swing
2. the arms effectively have no action in the backswing - the author says the left arm is automaticly taken as the big shoulder muscles turn
3. there should be a sensation of the elbows remaining a tight triangle in the full swing

Is this a model swing us higher handicappers should aim to copy?

Bobby
