Setting up with toe out.

Hey guys, quick question, I am working on getting to the correct impact position on all shots. To help my hip turn is it better to have my toes straight or turned slightly toward the target? Also should I keep my left foot further back than the right foot, an open stance or should my heels be even with the toe turned out. I am trying to get more hip turn so any suggestions would be great.

Re: Setting up with toe out.

When I say turned out I mean just my left toe is turned out and right foot straight to slightly away in the opposite direction.

Working on getting my hips into the impact position as shown in gregs drills. You can view my swing in the gallery, my hips need to speed up so I dont flip my hands at the ball.

If you want to flare your left foot towards the target, that is fine. This will not affect you getting square to the target, but it will help you be more comfortable in the finishing position.

Jon,

I understand that if you open your right foot stance so it points behind you a bit then you can increase leverage by allowing a fuller hip turn. This is what Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods do (and no doubt a few of the top pros) when they are looking for extra distance.

Re: Setting up with toe out.

If you want to speed up our hips on the downswing, you can flare your left toes out to the target a bit. It will help but it won't be a "magin cure" I'm afraid. It will, however, help reduce muscle resistance in your thigh and hips to help you speed up.

The best way of correcting your problem is to work on moving your "core" (stomach and hips) faster in synch so you don't end up with your swing all over the tea shop.

Speeding a part us is very difficult and it will take them.

Re: Setting up with toe out.

Speeding up the hip turn has nothing to with flipping ???? Educate your hands friend.
