| Re: practices for steep angle on downswing Yeah, here's a quick way to stop that sh*t. It's a drill I've used for ages, I learnt it from an ex-Leadbetter instructor when I taught in Miami. Practice with whatever club you like and tee the ball up a fair amount. If it's an iron you're using, tee it up more than you would on a iron tee shot. Now, instead of chopping down onto the golf ball, sweep it off the tee. By sweeping it off the tee it will keep the width of your swing arc and it forces your vertical body plane to stay more-or-less constant (i.e. you do need to move up & down a bit, but not a lot). If you do hit down on it a lot, you're in trouble - you'll see a bad result immediately. As you get used to it, lower the tee and eventually take it away. As always when you practice, hit 30 or 40 shots with the drill. Then hit 10 'normal shots', then hit 10 with the drill and then 10 without ... carry on going through out the practice session. Keep on doing it until you've got it grooved.
