I practiced the right hand drill that is referenced in some of the posts here and had incredible results. My consistency increase dramaticly as well as a decent increase in distance. Before I was a swatter. I've come to terms with that but I feel that I have moved on. However I now tend to draw my 6 iron and higher. The ball starts out going straight and then gradually veers left (i'm a righty). The longer the club (4 and 5 iron) the more the draw. From reading the other posts it sounds like I'm too inside out but I don't want to do anything that will jepordize the consistency I've gained from the right hand drill. As for ball position, I play the SW adn PW off my right big toe and as I move up in club I move the ball to the left about one ball width per club puting the 5iron about in the middle of my stance. Thanks for the help

Re: Right hand drill gave me a draw. The less the loft of your irons the more sidespin that will be placed on your ball. Is the amount of draw on the shot more like a hook or is it just a slight right to left! If its not much draw spin then it sounds like your swing path is fine!

Re: Right hand drill gave me a draw. The Right Hand Drill. Just added a video lesson. Ty, The ball position you have there is quite a bit to far back. The SW/PW should start out in the middle. Then begin to move slightly forward to your longest iron about 1 ball inside your left heal. Your 3w and driver should be on your right heal. This could definatly be the reason for the hook on the longer irons. Last edited by GregJWillis; 08-30-2007 at 07:55 PM.

Re: Right hand drill gave me a draw. Thanks for the replies guys. I will try the new ball position to see if it helps thanks. I'm not sure if it is a draw or hook. I f hit at the right side of the fairway it will land about on the left hand third of the fairway. Ball flight starts straight then trails off to the left. Thanks for the tips. ty

Re: Right hand drill gave me a draw. Ricky, this is caused by having the face closed to your swing path at impact. Try weakening your grip slightly to straighten out your shot. Also, try my clubface alignment drill to see if you are indeed getting the clubface back to square at impact: http://www.golf-tuition-online.com/v...rticle.php?a=3

Ok I went to the course range/course today and Viola! The ball position made a huge difference. Thanks alot for the tip. No more draw on the shots and now I know how to get draw if I need it. I'm using Ping Zings, ugly but they do the trick nicely. Not as hard to shape the iron shots as i thought with these clubs. ty
