Re: have you got it?

That's the intrigueing thing about golf. One day everything clicks and you think 'Wow - this is a simple game!' Next time you go out the golfing God decides that you need to be punished for such thought and curses you with the shanks. Everything will come with time and proper practice. Keep up the hard work and practice an you too will have everything come together and all will be right in your world.

Re: have you got it?

I found golf easy to be honest, I never struggled but I do understand that some people struggle with the simple things like a good grip, let alone an effective swing. I see strugglers everyday of my life in teaching.

I don't think there's a 'click' and it all falls into place, I believe golf ability is layered on muscle memory and fine motor control. Good golf doesn't really come from good golf per se, it comes from the lack of bad golf. A good golfer's bad shots are not THAT bad and they hit very few of them.

What you will find is that as you get better your 'bad' shots become 'okay' and you hit more and more good shots of equal quality. It's strange but even at my level (I've been scratch or better since I was 15) but there is very little difference between my average shot and good shots, at Tiger/Vijay/Ernie/Phil level the difference is even less noticable.
So hang in there, practice well, learn the correct things, work a lot on your basics and you will see an improvement. Have regular lessons too to help you not have 'slumps' or if you do, the difference in 2 or 3 shots instead of 8 or 9 shots.
